Survivors for Peace

As well as focusing on peace programmes which invest in future peace building, the Foundation also deals with the past consequences of violent conflict as a key part of peace building and reconciliation.

The Survivors for Peace programme is aimed at people in the United Kingdom who have been bereaved, injured and witnesses or themselves engaged in acts of politically motivated violence, such as the 'Troubles', 9/11, 7/7, military campaigns and conflicts. It also includes people affected by prejudice & racism.

Under the umbrella of 'Survivors for Peace', our activities engage people in making a contribution to peace building by turning a painful and challenging experience into a positive opportunity for development, leadership and inspiration for others.

The Foundation's 'Legacy Project' was the first programme working with adults who are victims and survivors of the Northern Ireland 'Troubles' who live in Great Britain. Now the Foundation is building on experience gained from that project to offer victims of political violence an opportunity to use their experience positively. Through the Survivors for Peace programme victims/survivors/combatants will have the potential to use their experience to help educate others about the consequences of violence.
