March 20 th 2007 was the 14 th anniversary of the IRA bombing of Warrington and the day that the Tim Parry Johnathan Ball Foundation for Peace launched its 'Pound for Peace' campaign.
Since March 2000, the Foundation has inspired thousands of people to lead more peaceful lives. We have helped young people and adults regain their self-respect and self confidence and encouraged them to believe that they can achieve their full potential.
The Foundation has a number of carefully designed and structured programmes for people of all ages, which address issues such as diversity, social exclusion, bullying, citizenship and the legacy of conflict. We also provide victims and survivors of political violence with the opportunity to turn a painful and challenging experience into a positive opportunity for development, leadership and inspiration for others. We help as many people as we can, but as always, this depends on the amount of funding we receive.
Through this campaign, we are asking individuals to support our work and help us create a better and brighter future by donating just £1 a week.
Your help, for example, could provide:
• £52 per year would pay for 3 young people to participate in our anti-bullying programme. This programme provides them with the skills to deal with bullying and instils the need to ask for help.
• £456 per year would fund a young person to take part in an accredited course. This programme helps young people who are excluded or 'at risk' achieve a nationally recognised certificate awarded by the Open College Network.
• £200 would fund a victim/survivor to participate on a storytelling residential where they could meet other victims and survivors to gain support and insight into their experience.
