UK Terror Victims Remembered at International Conference

A UK charity dedicated to the peaceful resolution of conflict was represented at a major European conference held in Brussels to remember victims of attacks across the globe.

The charity, The Tim Parry Johnathan Ball Foundation for Peace, was the only UK organisation to be represented at the seventh European Day on Remembrance of Victims of Terrorism held on Friday, 11 March 2011. The Foundation’s Chief Executive, Clare White and Programme Manager, Jo Dover joined representatives from Italy, France, Spain, the Netherlands and the United States to discuss the conference theme, The Role of the Victims of Terrorism in Preventing Violent Radicalisation.

Hosted by the European Commission on behalf of the European Network of Associations of Victims of Terrorism, the conference remembered those who have lost their lives in acts of terrorism in Europe and elsewhere in the world and share initiatives aimed at raising awareness to prevent further violence.

Foundation staff outlined the current framework of the role of civil society in preventing radicalisation and the detail of the Foundation’s work addressing these issues.
